BVBLA – UCL Final – 2024

Dear Los Angeles Black and Yellow friends,

We are reaching out in advance of the Champions League Final Watch Party, June 1st 12pm at Wirtshaus. This is the biggest game of the year. This is a huge moment for our club, both BVB and for our fan club. We are so excited for you to be a part of this experience. Please note the following.

First, arrive early.  Wirtshaus will open at 11am but get there early. Wirtshaus will be at capacity.  Your RSVP may not guarantee you a spot. Wirtshaus will not be tracking names. We are using RSVPs to make sure Wirtshaus is properly staffed, which they will be.  We repeat, get there early.

Second, wear yellow. We want everyone in yellow for the final. Cover Wirtshaus wall to wall with yellow.

Third, be kind. Wirtshaus will be fully staffed but it will be busy. The servers and bartenders are lovely people working as hard as they can. Please show them kindness and respect.  The same holds for fellow BVB supporters and perhaps the random Real Madrid fan.  We all love the game and we all come from different backgrounds and perspectives. Everyone deserves to be there and enjoy the game.

We noticed a few questions on the RSVPs so we will try to answer them in the bullet points below:

  • This is a child and family friendly event. Please bring the little ones.
  • All our welcome. We do not care if you have been to one watch party or none, if you support our Black and Yellow, you are friends and family.
  • At this time the RSVP is closed, we cannot edit the RSVP list. It is not possible at add or delete at this time. Rather, we encourage you to please show up early.

Finally, just to repeat:

  1. Arrive Early, well before 11AM;
  2. Wear Yellow
  3. Be kind

We are thrilled to share this experience with you. Auf gehts BVB!  Let’s go BVB!

Yours truly,

BVB Los Angeles Fan Club

March 2023 – Is This Finally Our Year?

Nine games in a row. A new record! Games won in league, a game won in the Pokal and a first leg match won in UCL. All good in January and February. The future looks bright!

The downside is, we had an easy schedule in February with Bochum, Hertha and Hoffenheim. March is more daunting.

  • Mar 03, 11:30am, Fri: Borussia Dortmund vs RasenBall (BUN22)
  • Mar 07, 12pm, Tue: Chelsea vs Borussia Dortmund (UCL)
  • Mar 11, 9:30am, Sat: Sch*lke vs Borussia Dortmund (BUN23)
  • Mar 18, 10:30am, Sat: Borussia Dortmund vs Köln (BUN24)

When Karim Adeyemi went down for a minimum two weeks, there was a lot of gloom. He was the star against Chelsea for one shining moment. We heard “Here it comes again! Injuries!”

But really, our injury list is tiny compared to previous years and even the first half of the season. Our defense has solidified, our pressing is organized. Forward play looks pretty again, with smooth and delicious movement into the box. Since Can has come back to the midfield together with Özcan, we have a steel curtain look.

None of this is by accident. This is the team that Edin has been working for, but never had the healthy players to implement. This team has turned a corner.

In March we will have the rare opportunity to meet up three times in a row. (OK, that includes April 1 versus Bayern). March 11 is our second leg Derby against the Baby Blues. March 18 versus Köln is at a reasonable 10:30am.

The Bayern Match is still TBA, but it’s hard to believe that it won’t be the feature match of the day. Stay tuned.

Der Klassiker Finally Lives Up To The Name

Borussia Dortmund vs. FC Bayern

Old World (Orange County)

What a perfect event. First time at the Red Lion, filled the place up and then: Reus, Reus, Paco for the 3:2 beatdown!

Special thanks to GABA Southern California and to Warsteiner Beer for the promotions. We’ll do it again soon.

Christmas Party in Dortmund

We’ve gotten this note from Dortmund:

“we are pleased to be able to invite all Fanclubs to the traditional Christmas Party this year.”

on: Monday, 3 December 2018
from: 18:00 CET (admittance from 16:00 CET)
in: the stadium

I must point out that this is for two Club Members and you have to fly yourself to Dortmund, but…if anyone was planning on being in the area on Monday, Dec 3, let me know ASAP.

For those of you stuck in LA around that time, let me know if we should schedule a Christmas Party here. Sounds like fun.

Thanks all! Hope to see you soon.
