Dortmund vs Bayern – BVBLA Roadtrip!

Fan-Bus to der Klassiker at Old World (Nov. 4th)!

To register for the Fan Bus, go here.

We are one week away from Der Klassiker when our beloved BVB take on FC Bayern. We have reserved our Fan Bus to take us to Old World Village in Huntington Beach for Der Klassiker Watch Party on November 4th.

Seats on the bus are only $30 and available on a first come first serve basis. Bus will depart from LA Draught in Santa Monica at 8:00am. Along with a ride to and from Old World, everyone on the bus will get extra tickets for the exclusive merchandise raffle and plenty of ice cold Warsteiner Beer on the bus!

This is our first official Road Trip/ Fan Bus experience so let’s make it something special and bring back a win for BVB! The ride to Huntington Beach and back is a great opportunity to hang out, sing, chant and share our love for BVB together outside of just watching the game…plus did we mention the ice cold Warsteiner Beer?

Meeting Point: LA Draft at 8:00AM, Saturday November 4th,  3021 Lincoln Blvd Santa Monica, CA 90405

BVBLA – October 2023

Bundesliga – Update: Different numbers, but the same positions. Bayern and Dortmund off to a so-so (by their standards) start, while everyone wonders if Leverkusen and Stuttgart can keep it up. Bayern Match and Newcastle away are included below. Plan now to be at LA Draught on Saturday, 4 November, at 10:30am.

Champions League – It will be all about Newcastle, and hopefully we can peak at the right time. Winning the home leg seems like a must at this point.

Pokal – It will be Hoffenheim at home on Halloween. At least something we know we can handle, and things have shifted for Hoffenheim since our last meeting.

March Madness – Join The Party

Out of Champions League, disappointing result in the Derby. Keeping tabs on who’s injured and who’s not. After 10 straight victories, setting new records, it’s back down to earth again.

Long time fans will recognize this roller coaster of emotions as a typical Rückrunde, but here’s the difference: The team seems to have fixed a lot of its issues this year (defense, set pieces, mentality) and the Coach is not in danger of losing his job.

With that in mind, we are still looking at three meet-ups in a row. That too is probably a record. So after the Derby, two more big weekends.

Borussia Dortmund vs Köln – March 18 at 10:30am @ LA Draught

You may remember our sad showing in Köln last October. Alexander Meyer started, along with Anthony Modeste. Brandt scored our single goal. Tigges put the game away for Köln. This time may be very different. Haller is up front, and Kobel should be back. Reus should also be back.

Köln is sitting at 12th in the table coming off a 2-0 defeat to Bochum. They are not having a good year. Will this match put us back on winning ways?

Bayern München vs Borussia Dortmund – April 1 at 9:30am @ LA Draught

I can’t say I like the Der Klassiker title added to this match, but if it generates more interest in the Bundesliga… If you remember back to the Hinrunde, we played them to a 2-2 draw with Anthony Modeste supplying a miracle header for the tie.

I won’t make any predictions this time around, but I will say that if Adeyemi, Brandt, Kobel and Reus are all healthy, we can go toe to toe with the current Bayern team.

BVBLA – Echte Liebe in Los Angeles

The Borussia Dortmund Los Angeles Fan Club. It started when two strangers asked on Reddit: “Where can I watch the match in LA?” Now a year later, we’re had our largest event to date, over 30 Fans at Wirtshaus for Der Klassiker 2 on March 5.

Scottish Breakfast Club – The Hardcore

We all love Wirtshaus and the owners are Founding Members of the club. Unfortunately, most Bundesliga matches happen at 6:30am or so, and Wirtshaus cannot open for us. Enter the Cock’n Bull in Santa Monica. They are all EPL fans, mostly for Liverpool, but they have helped us get together for matches that happen before sunrise. Only a handful of us get there for every match and the Scottish Breakfast with Guinness is the preferred order.

We Like the Bayern Fans…Really!

2015-10-04_toms

The FC Bayern München Los Angeles Official Supporters Club were here before us and they have been helpful in every way. Our largest turnout in 2015 (20) was at Tom’s Urban for the first Der Klassiker of the season. That was a crappy day, we must admit (5-1

How Lucky We Were

Aubameyang_celebrates

We were hoping to get to 50 likes on Facebook and 20 fans out for a match before the end of the season. As I write this, we are at 97 likes and looking to break all records for attendance this weekend. Are we organizational masterminds?

The real reason seems to be that Borussia Dortmund is having one of their greatest seasons in decades. Thomas Tuchel now looks brilliant. Major injuries have been avoided (knocking on wood). Rotation players are starting to show what they can do. Our Club favorite Henrikh Mkhitaryan* has emerged as one of the top players in Europe. It goes on and on.

*Götze? Reus? Dembele? Who can say.

Every Match

We’re going to try to meet up for every possible match in 2016 and 2017. Early morning Saturdays and Sundays will be at the Cock’n Bull. Select Champions League matches (11:45am Wednesdays) also at the Cock’n Bull. BVB vs. Bayern is usually at Wirtshaus.

Finally Defeated – Successful Season Continues

This was our best meetup yet, despite the scoreline. The Bayern LA Fan Club were hospitable and gracious. Altogether, 90 Bundesliga fans in one place. Thanks to Tom and Oscar (photos). We’ll be back in two weeks, still #2 in the Bundesliga, still top of our group in Europa League.

The whole scene. Quite impressive for Los Angeles at 8am on a Sunday.

BVB @ Bayern – Der Klassiker (part 1)

With the Jungs going to Allianz Arena it seems fitting that we drop by the Bayern Los Angeles Club’s house to bring the time honored rivalry to them.

The larger picture is showing Los Angeles and Fox Sports that the Bundesliga is here to stay. We’re hoping that this will be the largest viewing party ever assembled on the West Coast.

For all Westsiders: Bill C will be organizing a train trip from Culver City. Stay tuned.
